History of the museum and exhibition center "Travel Palace"

In the “Guide from Moscow to St. Petersburg and back,” published in the first half of the 19th century, a certificate was given: “Solnechnaya Gora or the village of Gomzino is the second station from Moscow, with ... a travel palace and a serviceable hotel.”

In 1808-1810 the building of the travel palace was rebuilt and became part of the large-scale architectural ensemble of the St. Petersburg Highway, conceived under Catherine II, as a model for all major roads in Russia and the only one fully implemented.

Today this building is undoubtedly an architectural decoration of the city of Solnechnogorsk. The museum and exhibition center located there bears the same name “Travel Palace”.

The museum and exhibition center includes the historical and local history exhibition “The World of the Russian Province”, five small exhibition halls, as well as a music salon. The museum collection includes about 16 thousand items - evidence of Solnechnogorsk history and national culture.

The funds continue to grow thanks to citizens who donate family heirlooms, documents, photographs and awards to the museum.

Opening hours of the Travel Palace: Wednesday - Saturday from 10.00 to 18.00, Sunday - until 16.00.
Monday, Tuesday - days off. The last Thursday of the month is sanitary day
